Who we Are
Kevin Middleton’s journey into the construction industry began at the young age of 12 when he started working alongside his father, Loren Middleton. For 10 years, the two of them built houses together, with Loren— a natural builder— instilling in Kevin a strong work ethic and a deep understanding of the craft. While Kevin admired his father’s passion for homebuilding, he realized that his own interests didn’t lie in the same direction. Over time, Kevin found himself drawn more to the dirt work side of the construction process, the part that involved shaping and preparing the land for a new project.
After discovering his love for dirt work, Kevin decided to venture out on his own. Just over 15 years ago, he purchased a small skid steer and dump truck, marking the beginning of his business journey. Kevin founded Big Lake Contracting LLC, focusing on excavation, land development, and all aspects of dirt work. His hands-on approach and passion for transforming raw land into something functional and beautiful became the foundation of his success.
Kevin loves the thrill of waking up every morning and seeing the potential in a new project, creating something from scratch, and watching it take shape. His desire to stay challenged and constantly improve means he’s always thinking of ways to grow his business. His dedication to both his craft and his team has helped him build a family-oriented environment at Big Lake Contracting LLC, a culture he has nurtured since he started the business in 2010.
